You would think

Being so close to the water that we would go to the beach more often. It's hard work I tell you. Getting everything you need packed in the car, carried down to the beach, then trying to get it all plus two tired kids back to the car. Hard work! But fun.

We have now been to the beach 3 times in less than a week. On Friday we met up with Katherine and Lennon. On Sunday we hung out with my parents at their beach and then we went with Shannon and Jaden on Tuesday.

Here are some pictures of our meet up with Katherine and Lennon.

My cutie future son-in-law!

Look at how far out he is!
Emerson has gotten so brave in the water. By Tuesday she was just running in and jumping.Stopping for a snack.

The Detroit Zoo

Yesterday we went with Grandma Rice on another weekly excursion. This week was the Detroit Zoo and the kids loved it. Emerson waved to every person and animal we passed. She also called them all dogs, but close enough. It was a hot and long day and the kids crashed on the way home, but they did really well at the zoo. Maybe we'll do it again before the end of the summer.Kaleb the monkeyEmerson playing hide n' seek

Emerson waving to the animals. "Bye bye dogs"
Showing a little love on the train! Of course we ended the day with ice cream!
A beautiful flower that I couldn't resist taking a picture of.

The end of our first sports season

Kaleb just finished up his first attempt at baseball. He enjoyed it, but said he was glad it was over. Now all he can talk about is soccer. Hopefully I can get him signed up for the fall.Look at that form. No really. He looks like he really knows what he is doing!Rounding third! He only had a minor mishap getting there!I do however think Emerson is happier than anyone that it is over. Does she look bored to you?!

Boat Week

Well boat week around here is a fun time. The carnival comes to town, and we avoid it like the plague! We have the fun parade. Best of all, the beautiful sail boats line the river three deep and it is a fun time walking along the board walk to see them before the race begins.

Emerson getting ready! She is obsessed with brushing her "tee"! I just love those big green eyes.

My three favorite people posing in front of the sailboats.

That week Renae, Dave, Hanna and Avery were also home. It was so much fun hanging out with them. The kids got along great...... for the most part!

Playdates and Parades

This week on our playdate with Shannon and Jaden we went to the water park. Kaleb made sure to voice his opinion that it wasn't a water park if it didn't have a slide!! Sorry!
The kids didn't care a whole lot for it. There were tons of kids there as we somehow managed to go on a day that a local day camp was there FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW! Once they cleared out the kids got a little more brave. Emerson didn't want anything to do with it though.

Later that evening we went to the parade with Dana, Janelle and Keeley. The kids enjoyed it.
The Clydesdale's that Jason wanted me to get a picture of.

DIA

This week was our trip to the DIA - Detroit Institute of Arts. I have never been here before and it was really cool. Grandma and I agree that this would be an all day visit WITHOUT kids. With kids, well, we stayed long enough! Here is a replay of the day:
Kaleb: "I hate this place"
Me: "That isn't a nice thing to say"
Kaleb: "They won't let me do any art!"
Me: "You are here to look at art, not do it"
Kaleb: "I hate this place"
Meanwhile, Emerson discovered the echo throughout the museum. You could hear us coming a mile away because Emerson would be testing out the acoustics "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah"
Hey kid, no touching the art!

And I just thought this was funny!!!
