I said Doctor.....Mr. M.D.
That is a song isn't it?
So this was the week of dr. visits at our house. Kaleb went to his ENT appointment on Wednesday. I had been concerned about his hearing for the last two months. He turns the volume of the tv up as high as it can go, says he can't hear it when I turn it down. He is yelling when he speaks, and he has even said that he couldn't hear us. Kaleb hasn't had a history of ear infections, but in the last two months he has had two and when we went back to Dr. Barnes three weeks ago he still had fluid in his ear. So she refered us to an ENT.
The dr. was great and so was the audiologist. They both acted goofy, making Kaleb laugh. It is funny how some people go into fields where they will be working with children, yet have no sense of humor nor do they know how to put children at ease. Nothing was seen in the exam and Kaleb's bone conduction test showed that there is nothing wrong, yet he scored low on the hearing test and the movement test. This means that something is blocking the sound from going through. The dr. and I agree that it isn't anything serious that some medication should clear it up. No need for surgery as he doesn't have a history like I mentioned. We are doing Nasonex for a month and then we will go back to retest Kaleb. Hopefully the fluid and pressure go away soon. I hate that I was getting so annoyed with how loud Kaleb has gotten and how loud he wants the volume since there really is a reason for it. In any matter, he is just fine!
Emerson went in for her 15 month well-baby appointment yesterday. She weighs 22 lbs 4oz (50%) and is 32 1/2 inches (97%). The girl is tall. She is pretty much grown out of her 12-18 month clothes, not because of her weight, but because she is too tall for them. Especially in the torso. I need to get her some 24 month onsies, because the 18 month ones are tight. Emerson got 3 shots yesterday but she seems to have tolerated them just fine this time. Hopefully no scare of an infection again. Last time she had a hard lump with redness and a fever on one of her legs. This time they made sure to stretch the muscle so it wouldn't tense up.
Emerson is doing great. Lots of personality packed into such a little thing. She loves to read, loves to annoy her brother, loves to do her hair and brush her teeth, loves to talk, yell, scream and loves to give hugs and kisses.
On Monday I got to go visit Jen, Dan, Sarah, Aunt Diane, Uncle Dan and......... Dylan John!!! He is so adorable. Congrats Jen and Dan. I am still trying to find time to get on the computer to play with the pictures I took. I'll post when I get a chance.
This Sunday Emerson and I will be driving to Jackson to visit with Anna, Ava and Stella! I haven't seen Anna in almost 2 years and I miss her! We will make it a girls day and the boys will stay home and hang out together. It should be a fun weekend.

Emerson's 1 year pictures
Yes, I know she is 15 months now. I'm just a little behind. Since her ezcema rash around her mouth finally went away I decided it was time to get her 1 year pictures done. They turned out pretty cute.
We ordered number 1,2 and 11 (if you look at the 'view all'). The lady cropped in the second picture because it is so far away.

Living like no one else
So that later we can live like no one else.
Have you ever heard this slogan? If not, then let me introduce you to www.daveramsey.com
It was about 2 years ago that Jason came home from work telling me about Dave Ramsey. He went out and bought the Total Money Makeover book that night. We both read the book, thought the philosophy was great, but we just never stuck with it. I can say that I have read the book 3 times and with lucky number three I have really gotten the motivation to get rid of our debt and start building wealth.
Dave's steps are easy and I highly advise you to read up. I will have an extra book if you want to borrow it!
Step 1- Save $1000 in an emergency fund
Step 2- Pay off debt with the debt snowball (genius idea)
Step 3- Save 3-6 months worth of expenses
Step 4- Invest 15% toward retirement
Step 5- College funding
Step 6- pay off home early
Step 7- Build wealth
The problem is that this is a difficult process. There is a lot that has to be given up. I can't shop for new clothing for my kids just because I feel like it. We can't go out to eat 3 times a week because I don't feel like cooking. We can't buy eachother big gifts at the holidays. There is a lot to give up, but the end result will be so worth it.
Anyway, Jason and I have officially signed up for Financial Peace University. I just ordered our supplies and a class is being offered at a local church. In the classes we will learn about the steps in more detail. I for one know NOTHING about mutual funds and the best ways to save. I just got us on a good budget, but I need help sticking to it and using the extra money to cut down debt rather than taking it with me to the mall.
So please, encourage us because we need it. Don't look down on us because we can't give out great presents or join in on fabulous dinners and outings. Believe me, this will be the hardest. If we are able to stick with this, Dave assures us that we will be the ones taking people out to dinner or on vacations. Won't that be wonderful?!!
I'm so excited to get this process started!! I hope to one day call his show and yell "WE'RE DEBT FREE!"
